There was some chunky crossing in Sefalana (presumed local) with the stock closing at 1380t. Outside of this the market was quiet.
An extremely active day in Nairobi thanks to a number of chunky crosses. The 2 major crosses were both local buying and selling – Housing Finance and Equity Bank. Equity Bank closed up 5% at KES42.00 thanks to the early large cross at KES43.00. In normal trading there was some good foreign crossing in EABL at KES275 (-40bps) while Safcom (+1.8%, KES16.70) also saw some action. The only other stock that had any decent volume was BRIT which closed down 1.4% at KES14.00.
An active day in the Indian Ocean island. This was mainly due to chunky crossing in SBMH (-1.4%, Rs0.70) and NMH (unch, Rs17.40).
A dull day in Lagos with not much conviction either way. Right on the open there was a local cross in Dangcem at N160 although the name did close at N156.10 (-1.79%) on small volumes after the cross. This was the main drag on the index as both banks (+33bps) and Consumers (+1.73%) gained ground for the day. Activity was focused in Dangcem, GTB (+2.57%, N19.58), NB (+3.35%, N121.02) and Nestle (unch, N800.00).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another pathetic day in Harare as sentiment remains poor.
